The 2012 high school football season got underway for five local teams on Saturday afternoon at Governors Stadium in the TOA Football Jamboree with Northeast, Rossview and Kenwood picking up wins – while Montgomery Central and Clarksville High weren’t so lucky in their final dress rehearsals.

Northeast 13, Christian County (Ky.) 6

Several players had standout performances in their teams two quarter of play, but it would be hard to top the night Northeast High’s Jalen Reeve-Maybin had, as the University of Tennessee signee rushed for 88 yards on eight carries, while completing two passes for touchdowns in the Eagles 13-6 win over Christian County (Ky.).

Both of Reeve-Mayin’s touchdowns were to Dontavio Fort-Merriweather, the first a 25-yard pass on the Eagles first drive of the night on a seven-play 75-yard drive to make it 7-0.

The other came on the final play of the scrimmage for Northeast — a 29-yard play that was tipped up in the air — but was caught in the end zone by Fort-Merriweather.
